Hartford Woman Sentenced to 18 Months in Federal Prison for Role in Heroin Sale
Nora R. Dannehy, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that YAZMIN RAMOS, 52, of Hartford, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 18 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release. On October 20, 2008, RAMOS pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting the distribution of heroin.
According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on September 12, 2007, RAMOS and her son, Christopher Ramos, distributed 1000 dose bags of heroin to another individual for $2750 in a parking lot at 1888 Main Street in Hartford.
On July 8, 2009, Judge Thompson sentenced Christopher Ramos to 188 months of imprisonment for his role in the September 12 transaction, as well as for his distribution of 2000 dose bags for $5000 to the same individual on Broad Street in Hartford on August 14, 2007, and his distribution of more than 60 grams of crack cocaine on June 29, 2007.
This matter was investigated by the Hartford Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert M. Spector.
