HARTFORD MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL PCP CHARGE

 

  Nora R. Dannehy, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JOSUE MALDONADO, 27, of Amity Street, Hartford, pleaded guilty today before Senior United States District Judge Ellen Bree Burns in New Haven to one count of possession with intent to distribute phencyclidine (“PCP”).

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on January 10, 2007, MALDONADO knowingly possessed 18.5 grams of PCP with intent to distribute a portion of that quantity.

Judge Burns has scheduled sentencing for June 23, 2008, at which time MALDONADO faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 30 years and a fine of up to $2,000,000.

This matter was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hartford Police Department.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward T. Kang.
