EAST HAVEN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTING CRACK COCAINE
Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that JOHN VAILETTE, 36, of East Haven, pleaded guilty today before United States Magistrate Judge Holly B. Fitzsimmons in Bridgeport to one count of distributing cocaine base (“crack cocaine”).
According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on several occasions in April and May 2007, VAILETTE and his wife, Jennifer Vallombroso, sold crack cocaine to a government informant.
VAILETTE is scheduled to be sentenced on June 5, 2008, by United States District Judge Janet Bond Arterton in New Haven, at which time VAILETTE faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years, a maximum term of life imprisonment and a fine of up to $8,000,000.
On February 27, 2008, a federal jury in New Haven found Vallombroso guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine base. She awaits sentencing.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Branford Police Department, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward Chang. |
